Mini Lop Kits update

For those who have inquired about Mini Lop kits:
There are not currently any available for purchase. Of the two we had left, one is staying here at Whitehaven Woods with us and the other has been reserved and will be heading home with it's new family Mid January.

We should have another litter of kits born Mid January that would be available for reserving at the end of February 2015.

Rabbitry Transformation Underway!

We recently decided to move our rabbits from outdoor hutches to an indoor cage system in a shop area behind our garage. The 30 x 36 for the females and kits are done! Next I will be assembling the 30 x 30 cage system for the bucks.
We are very excited about this! These are high quality Klubertanz cages. The pull out trays will make it much easier to keep the rabbits living quarters extra clean. We also know they will get spoiled with even much more attention as we won't need to venture out into an Indiana winter to pet and hold them.

I even had a great helper!

Rosie and Violet and the kits seemed pleased with their new homes!

UPDATE: January 2nd, 2015
2nd set of cages recently completed! Yay!

Holland x Lionhead Kits

These two from Rosie & Benjamin continue to thrive!
She feeds them so well and just seems to love being a Momma.
Along with still nursing, they are now eating hay, some oats, and drinking from the water bottle.

Determined Survivors!

Over the weekend we were very, very sad to have two of the kits from Violet's litter die!
It was very unexpected, as they had been active and thriving.
Since there was the possibility (among many other possibilities) that their Momma was no longer feeding them adequately or in trying to wean them had seriously injured them, we took the advice of more experienced rabbit people and separated her from the remaining two kits. Fortunately at 3 weeks they have a good chance for survival.

I'm so happy to say the remaining two are eating hay, oats, and some goats milk! They LOVE the old fashioned oats! As long as they keep this up I'm very optimistic they are going to be just fine.

Growing so fast!

The kits are growing and changing so fast. They now scamper around the cage, going in and out of the nest box. They still spend a lot of time cuddled together napping but are more active now. They hop about, eat hay, nurse from Momma, and today were spotted grooming each other (SO cute!).

Day 12 ~ eyes opened!

Today 4 of the 6 kits have their eyes fully open! They have such a nice coat of fur now and are getting around so quickly! We put hay out in front of them today and they instantly started munching away.
