English Lops are one of the oldest breeds of domestic rabbits still in existence.
They weigh in around 10-11 pounds or more (that's right, quite a bit more than Mini Lops!)
They are known for their incredibly long ears, mandolin shaped body, and their puppy dog personality. They are very social! English lops typically love interacting with their owners.
We are excited to have this special breed at our rabbitry.
I recommend this breed to families who already have experience owning a rabbit AND have only older, responsible children. If you will be a first time rabbit owner go with the Mini Lop! We raise those too.
Though they can make a delightful pet, I do not recommend the English Lop for a first time rabbit owner and definitely not for a young child. The reasons for this are as follows:
1) Having very long ears, they often step on their ears. Therefore, they require extra care, both in keeping the ears clean and in keeping the nails trimmed to avoid injuries to their ears.
2) They are quite large. Their large size makes them difficult for a young child to handle. They also have long backs. Thus, they are more prone to back injury if mishandled or dropped.
