Spirit's Scarlet's new litter!

We are happy to welcome two new bunnies today!   Spirit's Scarlet had a small litter arrive today.
She had 4 come early a few days ago that were unfortunately dead upon arrival.  We weren't sure if there were more to come or not.  So despite the small litter we are happy that she kindled two healthy kits this morning!

Velveteen Lop Update with Photos

Our Velveteen pair has grown a lot and fit right in here at Whitehaven.

Jeremie continues to be the calm, affectionate one while Dame Marie is more spunky & active.  Thus, it was harder to get a good picture of her.  

We recently took Jeremie to an assisted living/nursing home facility.  He was a big hit with all the residents and it seems he will make a wonderful therapy animal.

He was held and loved on by so many and made their day!  It was a blessing to me to get to bring some delight to their day.  I cherish the time we spend these special people each week.

Velveteen Lop Love

I fully admit I am totally smitten with this little guy.
LionKing's Jeremie is just plain adorable and as sweet as can be.

He loves to be held and gives kisses every time he's held.
He is 10 weeks old now and growing quickly.

LionKing's Dame Marie is now 3 months old.
She is beautiful.  She is not as much of a cuddle bug as Jeremie.  She's more playful and entertaining.

Jeremie's 8 week weigh in

LionKing Jeremie, our blue otter Velveteen Lop buckling, turned 8 weeks old on Monday.
He weighed in just over 2 pounds.  He has been gaining quickly since he arrived.
He is just plain adorable!

Velveteen Lops have arrived at Whitehaven Woods Rabbitry!
So excited to have them here and learn about this newer breed.

If you saw in a previous post we briefly had a black otter Velveteen doe. She did not seem a good fit for us and the breeder we purchased her from was so kind to let us trade her for a younger, orange doe.
SO this is our Velveteen doe:

We welcome LionKing's Dame-Marie

This is the blue otter buckling we purchased: LionKing's Jeremie.

We got to name both of these rabbits.  We named them Dame-Marie & Jeremie after cities in Haiti.

We plan to use some of the money from Velveteen kits we raise and sell in the future to go towards Missions trips & Mission work in Haiti.  

Velveteen Lops also coming to Whitehaven Woods Rabbitry!

So excited to announce that we will soon be adding Pedigreed Velveteen Lops to our rabbitry!
We will still be raising pet and show quality Mini Lops!

For those that are not familiar with Velveteen Lops (aka VLops)  they are a breed that has been in development for several years yet are still somewhat rare.
They uniquely combine the velvety, plush fur of a rex rabbit and the long lop ears of an English Lop.  They weigh around six to six and a half pounds and have a mandolin shaped body. They have what is referred to as a roman shaped head and the desired minimum ear length tip to tip is 15".
They are known for being very sweet natured rabbits.

A pair will be joining our rabbitry this coming weekend.  The doe has already been bred.  Assuming the breeding was successful kits would be due mid July 2015!
